Introducing New Fish
Size

The Ornate White Fin Rosy Tetra (Hyphessobrycon bentosi) is a peaceful and visually striking freshwater tetra, recognised for its deeper rosy-red body colour and elegant white-tipped fins. Compared to standard Rosy Tetras, the Ornate variety displays a richer hue and slightly more pronounced finnage, making it a standout choice for planted and community aquariums.

This species is calm, active, and highly social, thriving when kept in groups. Its gentle temperament and attractive appearance make it suitable for a wide range of peaceful freshwater setups, particularly aquariums with live plants and subdued lighting.

Physical Characteristics

  • Adult Size: Approximately 5–6 cm (2–2.5 inches)

  • Coloration: Deep rosy to red body with distinctive white tips on dorsal, anal, and caudal fins

  • Body Shape: Laterally compressed, deeper-bodied tetra profile

  • Sexual Dimorphism:

    • Males are often slimmer with more intense colour and extended fins

    • Females are slightly larger and rounder, especially when mature
