Venison Diced
Key Benefits
-
High-Quality Protein: Supports muscle maintenance and repair.
-
Low in Fat: Good for pets needing a leaner diet.
-
Rich in Iron and Zinc: Supports immune function and red blood cell production.
-
B Vitamins (especially B12, niacin, riboflavin): Promote energy metabolism and nervous system health.
-
Taurine (important for cats): Naturally occurring in red meats, although raw diets may still require supplemental taurine for felines.
suitable for cats
Cats are obligate carnivores and require a diet that is almost entirely animal-based. Venison can serve as a primary muscle meat, but must be part of a diet that includes:
-
Taurine (critical for heart and eye health)
-
Organ meats for vitamins A and D
-
Bone or calcium supplements for skeletal health
Best Practices:
-
Must be fed with balanced organ and bone ratio, not just muscle meat.
-
Ideally grind with organs and finely ground bone, or use a premix supplement.
-
Cats may require additional taurine if feeding venison only.
Suitable for dogs
-
Dogs are facultative carnivores and can thrive on a meat-based diet supplemented with bones, organs, and some vegetables.
-
Venison is an excellent option for dogs with food allergies or sensitivities, especially to common proteins like chicken or beef.
-
Should be part of a balanced raw diet (e.g., PMR – Prey Model Raw or BARF – Biologically Appropriate Raw Food).
Best Practices:
-
Combine with organ meats (like liver, kidney) and raw meaty bones.
-
Ensure calcium and phosphorus balance, usually through bones or supplements.
-
Include omega-3 sources (like fish oil) if not already present.
