The Golden Longfin Blue Eyed Bristlenose Pleco is a rare and visually stunning variant of the well-loved bristlenose catfish. With its flowing fins, vibrant golden body, and striking blue eyes, this pleco is as much a display fish as it is an effective algae eater.

Key Features

  • Coloration: Warm golden to yellow body tones

  • Eyes: Brilliant ice-blue or sapphire eyes

  • Fins: Long, flowing fins that give it an elegant, almost ornamental appearance

  • Bristles: Males develop prominent facial bristles; females may have fewer or none

Diet

Omnivorous with a strong preference for plant matter. Feed a varied diet of:

  • Algae wafers

  • Blanched vegetables (zucchini, spinach, cucumber)

  • Sinking pellets

  • Occasional protein (frozen bloodworms or shrimp)

Breeding

  • Cave spawner: males guard eggs inside a cave or tube

  • Requires a calm tank and stable water parameters

  • Bristlenose fry will feed on biofilm and algae
